The Bernina Northland Fashion Awards are Northland’s prestigious and fun fashion awards showcasing the creative talent of Northland school students of all ages, polytechnic and tertiary level students as well as all amateur and semi-professional sewists and artists. There are both sewing and wearable arts categories, catering for entrants of all ages, stages and abilities.
After much consideration, we had to make the difficult decision to not proceed with the 2020 & 2021 events due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, we are excited to be back with a new date for our 2022 event!
The 2022 Bernina Northland Fashion Awards will take place on Saturday 20th August. Entries are open now!
There are 5 sewing categories to choose from, accommodating young, beginner sewists through to more experienced sewists. The sewing categories all have an element of sewing skill and garment finishing that is critiqued as part of the judging process. Please browse the categories for further details.
We all love to dress up for a special evening out. Design and make an evening gown that has you standing out from the crowd. This is an opportunity to design an evening dress or ball gown that wows us all.

LEARN MOREDesign an amazing mask using any medium. Large and small, weird and wonderful, the Masquerade is all about having fun while remaining anonymous.
The model is to wear all dark clothing, so all the attention is on the mask for The Masquerade.

This category is open to students up to Year 8 only.
